Washington Monthly Emphasizes Service to Society

Evergreen earned the prestigious first place spot in 2022 ranking No. 1 out of over 600 colleges and universities across the country. Evergreen also landed the No. 4 for a Master's University and the No. 20 spot as a "Best Bang for Buck College" for 2023.

Washington Monthly ranks colleges based on three criteria:

  • Contribution to the public good in social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students)
  • Research (producing cutting-edge scholarships and PhDs)
  • Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country)

In 2022, U.S. News and World Report ranked Evergreen as No. 22 for Top Public Schools and No. 26 for Best Value Schools.

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) continues to recognize Evergreen as one of the country’s top 200 colleges for Indigenous students based on serving a sizable Native community, the number of degrees offered and the Indigenous student percentage in comparison to the state’s overall Indigenous population.

Top Accolades as Animation School

The Animation Career Review ranks nearly 200 schools with animation programs from across the United States. For 2023, here's where Evergreen scored:

The Military Friendly Schools List honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students. With a thriving Veterans Resource Center, a strong commitment to diversity of opinions and proximity to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Evergreen has become known as a welcoming place for veterans.

Member Institution in Colleges That Change Lives

Former New York Times education editor Loren Pope published the first edition of Colleges That Change Lives—40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About College in 1996. Notably, Evergreen is described as follows: "The Evergreen State College offers the most unusual undergraduate experience in the Northwest, or in any public institution anywhere. Taxpayers everywhere should demand colleges like this one that changes their children’s lives. Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges 

Evergreen is one of just 29 members of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges in the U.S. and Canada. COPLAC is dedicated to the advancement of high-quality, public liberal arts education in a student-centered, residential environment and represents a distinguished sector in higher education. Evergreen is Washington’s only COPLAC member and is one of just three COPLAC institutions on the West Coast.
