The Science Support Center has a large inventory of lab and field equipment and consumable items. Make an appointment or just stop by the Center to connect with our staff about your needs. 

Equipment

At the SSC, you can check out lab and field equipment for academic work and research projects. Use our Equipment Inventory List to see what items we have available or stop by in-person to talk with our staff about your needs. Refer to the Checkout Guidelines for details.

Supplies

The SSC is stocked with a wide variety of Consumable Items such as chemicals, gear for personal protection, and other disposable supplies. With pre-approval, students may purchase items for use in their projects.

Talk to your faculty advisor to determine if materials are covered by program or research budgets. Students may apply for funding through the Clean Energy Committee Award or the Student Capstone Fund or may purchase supplies directly through their student account. 

Loaning Equipment and Supplies

Students and faculty enrolled in courses and other approved activities can loan materials from the SSC. 

  • Students for credit-bearing activities
  • Staff and faculty for teaching, research, and other college sanctioned activities
  • Student clubs and organizations
  • External agencies subject to approval

Checkout Guidelines

  • Equipment checkout is subject to availability and academic programs will receive priority
  • Student researchers may check out equipment for their projects after completing the process outlined on Student Project Support
  • No SSC equipment may be used in food-grade spaces (e.g. the SAL & Lab 1, 054) or within the Organic Farm
  • The borrower is responsible for contacting the SSC within 24 hours of checkout if any equipment is not working as intended
  • Equipment must be returned clean, if items are returned dirty, cleaning fees may be charged
  • If the item is damaged or lost, the borrower will be charged replacement at current retail value
