Designed for students interested in an internship experience with a business or enterprise involved in the private sector, this academic program is offered in Spring Quarter. The program supports students in expanding their knowledge and interests in entrepreneurship, business, social/sustainability entrepreneurship, leadership, and management.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Administrative and Compliance Intern to join our small, dynamic team of two employees and about 20 active volunteers. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector and contribute to the foundational stages of an organization. As part of our internship program, you’ll assist with administrative and compliance tasks and collaborate with us to design a community technology project that aligns with your strengths and interests. You’ll also have opportunities to dive into technical work and develop new skills, depending on your aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, scheduling, and communications.
  • Participate in compliance activities, including contract management and policy documentation.
  • Collaborate on the design and execution of a personalized community technology project that contributes to both your development and the organization’s mission.

About Kay Tita & Our Capital Campaign

Kay Tita is a community-driven organization focused on economic development, entrepreneurship, and social impact in Haiti and the Pacific Northwest. We are currently working to raise $4 million to build a Community Resource Center in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This center will provide workspace, training, and resources for entrepreneurs, alongside Impact Hub Port-au-Prince, a café and roastery, event spaces, and housing for visiting professionals.

This internship is an opportunity to support our fundraising efforts while learning about nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, and campaign strategy.

  • Campaign Strategy & Research
    • Support the development of a feasibility study, including donor research, industry trends, and potential funding sources.

Fabrication and Prototyping Assistant Internship

Lacey Makerspace

Stipend: $1200-1500 per quarter, based on hours worked and skill level, paid in two installments.

Position Description

Located on the Saint Martin’s University campus, the Lacey MakerSpace (LMS) is a community workspace that supports entrepreneurs, artists, and hobbyists. LMS empowers makers through training on high-tech equipment, promoting job-skills training and entrepreneurship. With a goal of promoting both job-skills training and entrepreneurship, LMS offers a variety of instructional programming available to members and the greater community in the following areas: woodworking, welding, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC routing, textiles, and 3D modeling & design.

The Fabrication and Prototyping Assistant Intern, under the guidance of the Fabrication and Education Coordinator, will work closely with LMS staff and members to support prototyping efforts, including custom product creation and troubleshooting design challenges. The intern will assist in designing and producing products for both clients and LMS, using advanced tools like 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters. This role provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fabrication process, client interaction, and working with innovative technologies. Additionally, the intern will occasionally assist with front desk operations, providing a welcoming experience for members, supporting administrative tasks, and gaining insight into the operational and customer service aspects of running a nonprofit makerspace.

Duties Performed

  • Assist in the design and creation of functional merchandise (e.g., T-shirts, hats, coasters) and project kits for LMS, following project specifications and guidelines.
  • Support the production of custom projects based on client specifications using 2D- and 3D-modeling software and related fabrication equipment, under the direction of the project lead.
  • Maintain and operate computerized tools, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines, ensuring they remain in optimal working condition.
  • Assist in updating and creating new tool standards, safety protocols, and operating procedures.
  • Record detailed project specifications, changes, and member feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the organization and maintenance of the workspace, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient environment.

Nature and Scope

This position reports to the LMS Director and works closely with the Fabrication and Education Coordinator to prioritize tasks and achieve goals. The intern will collaborate with all LMS staff across departments to complete high-quality projects and products for clients and members, ensuring alignment with LMS's broader objectives.

All LMS staff are employees of the Thurston Economic Development Council Center for Business & Innovation (CB&I). LMS is a program of the CB&I. LMS exists under the direction of its own Steering Committee with oversight from the CB&I Board. Position Purpose

This student worker position supports the mission and purpose of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Transformational Change (CELTC) by promoting events to national, regional, and campus audiences; supporting marketing efforts; and facilitating communication with strategic partners.  This position monitors social media, coordinates the development and production of web material, and provides additional administrative support for CELTC events and projects. 

Nature and Scope 

The CELTC is collaborative center where students, Evergreen alumni and community members can actively engage with complex challenges through applied learning opportunities in the curriculum and through certificate programs. The Center supports the development of social, sustainable and business entrepreneurial and leadership skills with integrated support from faculty, staff, peer mentors, community, and tribal partners. Reporting to the Director, this position is primarily responsible for coordinating data collection dissemination, and administrative and program support for the CELTC. 

Essential Functions

Support the CELTC’s strategic priorities:
  • Support the CELTC by providing logistical support and attending meetings with CELTC Assistant Director
  • Gather, organize, and analyze essential data to support various CELTC strategic priorities and programs
  • Manage strategic communications with local, regional, and national constituencies

The Marketing and Communications team at Evergreen is looking for Marketing Interns to join our team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity for students passionate about photography, social media, digital marketing and communications to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the college’s online presence.

Marketers, Social Media Managers, and Content Creators are becoming some of the most in-demand positions, regardless of industry. As a Marketing Intern you will be instrumental in producing captivating content that highlights the unique aspects of an Evergreen education. Interns will assist in documenting stories, events, and campus traditions; create video and photo posts for social media; and have the opportunity to pursue their own projects highlighting the Greener experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a positive brand ambassador for Evergreen, promoting our values and achievements through creative content. Must be comfortable being on camera and helping to recruit students for digital content.
  • Develop multimedia content, including photos, videos, and written materials to showcase the distinctive features of Evergreen.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos to create compelling visual content for social media and other digital marketing efforts.
  • Assist the Marketing team in managing social media projects, creating content, answering comments and messages, and engaging with the online community.
  • Stay up to date on social media trends and create content that resonates with our student community (scroll for work!).
  • Work closely with various departments, student clubs and organizations, and campus events to capture and promote activities through content creation.
  • Attend and cover campus events, capturing key moments through photography and video to share on social media and other communication channels.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to incorporate feedback and insights into content strategy, assist in the planning and execution of social media and digital marketing campaigns.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a current Evergreen undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Experience and/or a passion for one or more of the following: photography, videography, short form content creation, social media management, communications, storytelling.
  • Open availability to attend campus events at the Olympia Campus, including evenings and weekends

Educational Outcomes

  • Have a working knowledge of basic photography, videography, and editing skills
  • Demonstrate ability to create engaging visual content
  • Have a working knowledge of social media platforms, effective post types, audiences, and best practices for each platform.
  • Experience creating and executing a content calendar for social media
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of current trends, how to trend-spot effectively, and how to leverage trends and align them with Evergreen’s brand

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interns will research and investigate green business practices in theory and practice.
  • Interns will help improve and grow the green business certification application and process. In addition, interns may help support the development of educational and outreach opportunities connected to the work of the committee.
  • Intern will help with local business outreach and support for the annual green business application process.
  • Intern will help develop a green business/sustainable holiday gift guide connecting community members to local green businesses.
  • Interns may also be asked to assist in the development of community alliances, partnerships, corporate sponsors, and other funders as well as organize field trip opportunities for the committee.
  • Intern will help support communication processes including compiling education on best practices for green businesses to share with the community, social media posts, blog posts, and marketing and communication strategy development.
  • Intern will help support day-of operations and set-up for the Green Business Annual Expo in April.
  • Interns will send a weekly written update of their research, fieldwork, and a final paper with their research and ideas at the end of the quarter.
  • Interns will meet weekly with other interns, and their field and academic supervisors.
  • Interns will meet one-on-one weekly with their field supervisor.
  • Inters will attend the monthly green business committee meetings.
