3D modeling and animation skills are central to working with games, movies and other types of visual communication. In this class we will learn the basics of building 3D object models and animating them. Students will learn the open-source Blender interface, and the basics of using armatures to produce realistic movement. Students will also learn how to use the hard- and soft-body physics engine and cloth simulator to allow animated objects to appear to be affected by gravity and to interact with other objects in your animated world. We will also learn how to layer animations at different scopes over each other and keep them in sync using the timeline, and explore using surface textures, smoothing, and lighting to produce the best visual results.
