This class focused on the US Supreme Court and the role it has played in enhancing or restricting the rights and lives of marginalized Americans. Students studied key cases in the evolution of Americans’ notions of rights and justice. Recent outcomes - such as the Dobbs decision (removing the constitutional right to abortion) - have indicated that the conservative majority is inclined to restrict the rights of certain groups.
