Taught By:
This course introduces students to the ancient Greek language and helps them begin to develop an ability to read classical Greek texts from Homer to the New Testament. The dialect that we will study, Attic, is that found in the works of Sophocles, Plato, and Thucydides, among others, and knowledge of Attic is an excellent basis for learning to read Greek in other dialects. Emphasis will be placed on building vocabulary, recognizing word forms, and understanding syntax.
