The business systems program prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in a business management career or in a Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, or similar professional degree program.
Students in the Finance and Budgeting course will develop the skills needed to analyze and make business financial decisions. We will learn how to evaluate the constraints on business financial decisions; form budget proposals; interpret financial statements; evaluate alternatives in debt, equity, and other means for funding business enterprises; and analyze the implications of economic conditions and economic policy on business finance. By the end of this course, students will have demonstrated their ability to:
- Analyze the effects of business financial decisions on a firm’s success
- Develop budget proposals
- Develop and interpret business financial statements
- Evaluate business decisions about short and long-term financing
- Analyze the effects of economic growth, inflation, unemployment, interest rates, and other conditions in the economy on business financial decisions
This program is in the Business Systems sequence including Business Systems: Managing Organizations (fall), in winter, Business Systems: Finance and Budgeting (winter), and Business Systems: Strategic Analysis (spring).
