The business systems program prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in a business management career or in a Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, or similar professional degree program.
Students in the Managing Organizations course will develop their ability to make effective decisions about organizing and managing the people and resources of a business firm. We will learn how to evaluate and make decisions about the organizational structure of a business; analyze the legal foundations under which businesses operate and the implications for corporate governance; and effectively lead personnel to achieve an organization’s goals. By the end of this course, students will have demonstrated their ability to:
- Critically analyze business decisions about how to organize its activities, including hierarchical organization, contract relationships, and team-based production
- Evaluate differing legal approaches to organizational governance and decision-making in terms of their implications for business success and for society at large
- Develop strategies by which business leaders support its workforce, address business problems, and build organizations that achieve their mission
