This Chinese course will emphasize the mastery of standard Chinese pronunciation and the building of useful vocabularies. Students with no experience can enroll in the Year I course, while students with some prior experience will learn to build on their knowledge of modern Mandarin Chinese through vigorous interactive practice and small group activities. The class is fast-paced with use of internet to accelerate the learning. Learning activities may also include speaker presentations and field trips. Chinese history and culture will be included as it relates to each language lesson. Both traditional and simplified Chinese characters will be introduced and practiced throughout the course.
This course will include online and in-person meetings.
Students who have taken at least one year of beginning level Chinese may register for Year II course and receive instruction in second year Chinese. Contact the faculty for more information.
