Creative Writing: Poetic Routesis designed to be present, observe, and write about a physical place. We will explore the landscapes, human and non-human relationships, and the stories that define the geographical areas we live within, or have deep ties to. Using the "Washington Poetic Routes," a digital poetry-mapping project that explores Washington's rich geographical terrain, students will write their own poems to reflect their chosen geographical place and create a poetic route from the works of the class. This is a writing intensive course for all levels of poets--from beginning to advanced. The final project will be a class poetic routes map and class reading.
