Dyeing Yarn

This course is designed to provide a working knowledge base to the art of dyeing yarns.  Students will learn the basic principles of dyeing, including color theory, types of dyes, and fiber characteristics. They will gain hands-on experience in dyeing yarns and fibers using natural dyes. The course will also cover the history and significance of dyeing in different cultures, with an emphasis on local indigenous dyes and explore contemporary trends in textile design and color use.  By the end of the course students will have dyed yarns that they can successfully use to weave. This is one of three courses that can be taken in any order which comprise the Fiber Arts Certificate.
