Are you a musician who wants to design your own electronic instruments, compositional tools, and musical algorithms? In this remote course, students will be introduced to Max/MSP, a graphical programming environment, as a tool for creating generative and interactive music. Students will explore concepts in MIDI, digital sampling, and sound synthesis while creating original musical works. Chance operations, algorithmic processes, sampling, granular synthesis, and live audio processing are some of the topics that will be covered as we develop our own tools and methods for creating music and interactive sound installations. No prior experience is required.
