Introduction to Adobe Graphic Design Software: Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an in-person, 4-credit, Saturday MacLab computer-studio intensive course. Students in this course can expect to achieve beginning to intermediate technical competency in utilizing Adobe’s InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator design software applications through in-person instruction, team design projects, assignments, and instructor support. In-class instruction will be supplemented by online video tutorial modules from LinkedIn Learning.
Students will assemble an individual web portfolio for this course that demonstrates their technical competencies in Adobe design applications, design team projects, and assignments.
All students will receive and submit course assignments on Canvas following weekly submission deadlines. The first session (July 1) will be a remote, synchronous orientation on Zoom to asynchronous modules that will prepare students for the work ahead, and, beginning July 8, students will participate in 6 hours of in-person instruction and project work on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and should expect to spend an additional 6-8 hours outside of class time per week on coursework.
Note: Students who register for this first session summer course can also register for the second summer session remote home-studio intensive 4 credit course, Student-Directed Projects in Adobe Graphic Design Software: Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, where students will build on foundational knowledge in Adobe design software by completing a larger scale multi-asset individual digital design project.
