This first quarter of a year-long sequence is designed for complete beginners. Both hiragana and katakana letters as well as elementary kanji characters will be introduced. Japanese culture and society will be discussed throughout the course. This is a good preparatory course for students interested in participating in Evergreen's exchange program with University of Miyazaki or University of Hyogo in Japan.
