This third quarter of a year-long sequence covers the second year of Japanese language studies. Students must be familiar with basic verb forms and elementary kanji letters. Students will build on previous skills and learn new grammar and vocabulary so they can function in a variety of situations. In addition to studying the textbook, students will choose from among kanji studies, story reading and speaking practice as a focus.
Class activities will include presentations and discussion on Japanese culture and life. The class is conducted primarily in Japanese. This is a good preparatory course for students interested in participating in Evergreen's exchange program with University of Miyazaki or University of Hyogo in Japan.
Students who have already completed two years of Japanese may join this class and study at the third year level.
