In this class we will surface and celebrate the many modes of Black Language

o The Signs (Adinkra [Sankofa])

o The Sounds (Ngoma [Drums])

o The Signifyin’ (Nommo [Speech])

o The Sights (Dandy’s, Drip, Gele’s Gowns & Other Wears])

o The Spoken (Poetry, Prose, Plus)

· The So Much (Mo’ [Bettah])

Students will Explore Ebonics-Empowerment—through the study of All-Language Building & Belonging .eg.: Spanish & Lushootseed Languages will be welcome!)

Students will Find their Power in Prose and Oratory (while Surfacing their Strengthen in American English in the process)

Students will drum, public speaking and demonstrate their learnings through reflections on their professional language- lessening experiences and the crafting of a Mo’ Bettah experience of Language-Learning for the future.
