In today's interconnected world, negotiation skills are crucial for effective leadership. This course empowers students with the essential tools and techniques to navigate complex negotiations, resolve conflicts, build consensus, and foster cooperation among diverse stakeholders. By mastering these skills, leaders can influence outcomes, drive change, and create value for their organizations, ultimately enhancing decision-making, strengthening teams, and achieving strategic goals.

Students will explore the principles and strategies of successful negotiation, focusing on key topics such as negotiation dynamics, persuasive communication, and collaborative relationship-building. The course will cover hard-bargaining tactics, de-escalation strategies, and other concepts in the psychology of negotiation, as well as union management negotiation scenarios. Through a combination of theoretical insights and practical exercises, students will learn to apply negotiation techniques to real-world leadership challenges.

By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of negotiation as a critical leadership skill, enabling them to lead with confidence and succeed in diverse professional environments.

This online course features synchronous sessions via Zoom and asynchronous learning activities through Canvas. This course is one of four elective offerings that comprise the Transformative Leadership Certificate. Courses can be taken in any order.
