This class will focus on techniques and concepts of photography in the context of both continuous and strobe based lighting studio practices. Working digitally, students will gain experience with studio grip equipment, tungsten and electronic flash lighting techniques; still-life and portrait photography in a studio environment as well as on-location shoots using professional-grade lighting equipment. Emphasis will be placed on the production of a professional-quality portfolio which will demonstrate advanced knowledge of the studio and image production (large format printing with attention on color accuracy) on a conceptual theme of the student's choice.
The class will meet for two hours, twice per week. Students should expect to work and additional 4-6 hours outside of class on project development.

Students must present a portfolio that demonstrates a basic working knowledge of camera operation, lighting, and image processing (digital or analog); this can be at the Academic Fair or in an email with a link to an electronic portfolio.
