Covers topics in introductory physics, including kinematics, vectors, 2-D motion, force, circular motion, work, energy, and momentum. Through labs and collaborative group work, students will develop conceptual understanding, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate physics concepts effectively to others. Students should have good mathematical skills including algebra and trigonometry.
All students will participate in in-person lectures, workshops, and hands-on labs for 4 credits. Students taking 5 credits will complete additional computational physics lab exercises that complement the other course material.
Taking the Physics I, II, III course sequence provides the equivalent of a standard introductory algebra-based physics sequence. Students who have taken or are currently taking calculus have the option to earn calculus-based physics credits.
