Public Health and Environmental Justice is an elective course that will connect to the Evergreen-Tacoma Campus’s 2024-25 Cycle Makers, Cycle Breakers program theme through our examination of the connections between human and ecological systems. In this class, we will explore the interrelationships between humans and the more-than-human world. This will also include evaluating efforts initiated by governmental and non-governmental organizations to protect vulnerable communities and promote public health and environmental justice. Within this context, we will examine how these fields have informed efforts to address problems related to social determinants of health the inequitable distribution of environmental benefits and burdens.
