Quantitative Reasoning and Statistics (day)

During this class we will explore the interdisciplinary use of quantitative reasoning and statistics to analyze social and environmental topics. Course content will focus on increasing students' understanding of quantitative research, specific methods, and procedures for data collection and analysis. Within this context, students will demonstrate their ability to analyze and critique quantitative information presented in academic research, government reports, and media publications and correctly calculate and interpret descriptive and inferential statistics.  This will include learning how to select and apply appropriate statistical tests.  The statistical techniques introduced in this course include Chi-Square, correlation, and regression analysis.

Student work will include reflective writing on assigned readings, seminar discussions, and the completion of a final project. For the final project, students will apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities developed during the quarter to investigate a socially or environmentally relevant research question.
