This class provides a concentrated overview of the statistics and research methodology required for the GRE and prerequisites for graduate schools in psychology, social work, education, and other social sciences. It also meets the statistics prerequisite for all the graduate programs at Evergreen. We emphasize hands-on, intuitive knowledge and approach statistics as a language rather than as math alone; thus this class is gentle on "math phobics." No computer skills are required. You will become an informed and savvy consumer of information, from the classroom to the workplace. We will cover descriptive and inferential statistics, research methodology and ethics. The material will be presented in modules, allowing flexibility of scheduling and the ability to learn in both online and asynchronous settings.
This remote online offering will include lectures and workshops. Our approach will emphasize participation in synchronous (live) sessions in order to provide the opportunity for questions and interactive learning; however, if students find themselves unable to participate due to technology, caregiving obligations, economic disruption, health risk, or illness, they will have access to recordings of the statistics lectures. We will move at a comfortable pace with adequate rest and lunch breaks. Expect 6-7 hours a day of synchronous sessions. Students must be able to use Canvas and Zoom.
Anticipated Credit Equivalencies:
