This Fall quarter Student Originated Studies program is a continuation of the collaborative effort between agriculture, computer science and math students which began in the '24-'25 academic year. We will continue the work developed in the Winter and Spring '25 SOS, with the following goals:

  • Continue development of the task tracking system and its user interface;
  • Implement the harvest data tracking system and build its user interface;
  • Create accessible communication and analysis of data collected;
  • Research the feasibility of automated processes for water and greenhouse management;
  • Explore applications of the farm weather station data to predictive modeling for agriculture;
  • Learn management skills through taking leadership roles during farm practicum.

SOS students will be expected to work collaboratively with the Edible Campus program through the quarter in the development of these efforts. The output from this program will fold into future programs, such as Modeling and Automation on the Farm in Spring 2026.

Possible Credit Equivalencies:

  • Farm Practicum Management
  • User-Centered Software Engineering*
  • Data Analysis for Agriculture
  • Mathematical Modeling for Agriculture
