This 2-credit course is focused on experiential learning at the annual Tilth Conference, November 12-14, in Spokane, WA. In collaboration with the Spokane Conservation District's Farm and Food Symposium, this year's Tilth Conference will bring together growers, business organizations, food system activists, researchers, and educators to learn, network, and celebrate! Three days of activities will include educational sessions, keynote speakers, workshops, a trade show, and networking opportunities. Spokane Conservation District's Farm and Food Symposium collaboration will focus on practices of “Biofarming” to address the vital link between soil and human health, advocating for transparency and integrity in the food system.

Tilth Conference: Biofarming as an Evergreen course includes required pre-conference preparatory work, conference multi-media postings, and post-conference reflection and presentations. We'll use hybrid practices through Canvas and required pre- and post-conference campus meetings on Tuesdays 10.28 and 11.18 from 4-6 pm.

Student expenses required and collected by Evergreen include van transportation to the event on Tuesday evening and from the event on Friday evening. Conference fees and lodging rates are listed in the special expenses section with a link to the conference website. Students are responsible for registration by deadlines and for arranging their own lodging. Meals are included in the Conference registration: meal times are an integral component of the Tilth Conference. Scholarship information is available on the website. Students are responsible for applying by the deadline and should be aware scholarships will be prioritized for those actively engaged in farming. Check with the Tilth Conference website (https://tilthalliance.org/our-work/wa-farming-agriculture/tilth-conference/) for information on programming for the 12-14 November. See the Tilth Conference course Canvas website for required preparatory materials and the post-conference assignment.
