I am a marine ecologist and conservation psychology researcher whose work lives at the intersection of ecology, ecosystem-based management, and conservation psychology.  As an interdisciplinary scholar, my research explores nature-based spiritual values and their influence on conservation behavior, place attachment, and ecological stewardship.  I also study the human dimensions of ecosystem-based fisheries management, particularly in relation to endangered species recovery, and examine how environmental justice intersects with outdoor recreation and access.

I've had the privilege of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across the country, including Human Dimensions of Wildlife, Vertebrate Zoology with Lab, and Wildlife Ecology and Conservation.

In addition to my work at Evergreen, I serve as an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, work at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and contribute to the City of Olympia Parks, Arts, and Recreation Advisory Committee.
