Location

I am a member of the Chemistry faculty at Evergreen, where I teach General Chemistry with Lab and support students in developing strong foundations in both chemistry and mathematics. My background is in organic, polymer, and hybrid materials, and I have conducted interdisciplinary research for more than a decade.  My work has focused on molecular design, synthetic organic chemistry, and functional materials for applications in energy storage/conversion, sustainable polymer, and biomedical interfaces.

I have published over 35 peer-reviewed articles. hold two patents, and received support from competitive international agencies including NEDO (Japan), TUBITAK (Turkey), the Hirose Foundation, and the L'Oreal-UNESCO National Fellowship for Women in Science. Teaching and mentorship are central to my academic work, and I am committee to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments that help students connect chemistry to real-world challenges.

Education

Ph.D., Polymer Chemistry, Gebze Technical University, Turkey, 2014; Ph.D., Department of Applied Chemistry, Tohoko University, Sendai, Japan, 2011; M.Sc. Inorganic Chemistry, Gebze Technical University, Turkey, 2005; B.S., Chemistry, Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey, 2001

Teaching Style

I approach teaching with an emphasis on active learning, collaboration, and inclusion. I strive to create a classroom where students feel supported to ask questions, make connections, and think critically about chemistry. I use hands-on activities, real-world examples, and problem-solving practice to build confidence and curiosity. My goal is to help students see chemistry not only as a subject to master, but also as a tool for understanding and engaging with the world.
