Location

I am a graduate of The Evergreen State College and currently serve as a faculty member in Evergreen's Master in Teaching program. I bring over 13 years of experience teaching secondary science in Title 1 public schools, working with students across grades 6-12. In addition to my classroom teaching, I have co-taught sheltered multilingual learner (ML) inclusion science classes. I have also led professional learning opportunities for teachers at both the building and district levels, focusing on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and inclusive practices. My work in teacher education is informed by these experiences in K-12 schools and my ongoing commitment to supporting new educators as they enter the profession.

Education

M.A., Teaching, University of Puget Sound, 2013; B.S., Evergreen State College, 2012.

Teaching Style

My teaching is grounded in a commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices that foster inquiry, identity development, and critical thinking. I am passionate about preparing future educators to engage in intersectional justice-focused teaching that honors students' diverse identities and lived experiences. A key part of my work involves designing a science curriculum that is both phenomena-based, helping future teachers connect learning to students' local environments, cultures, and communities. I also focus on strategies to support multilingual learners, ensuring that instruction is accessible, engaging, and language rich. I believe education should be collaborative, empowering, and rooted in the communities it serves.
