John Withey is an ecologist and has been with the Master in Environmental Studies degree program since 2016. Professor Withey uses a combination of field studies, modeling, and GIS analysis to study the response of native wildlife to land-use and climate change in urban areas.
"Taking an active and interdisciplinary approach to evaluating and solving environmental issues...prepares students for contributing to their communities in the future".
John displays his enthusiasm for ecology by being an active environmental leader in and outside of the classroom. "I believe that teaching students critical thinking and information literacy—skills that enable them to discover, assess, synthesize and integrate information and evidence on their own—is critical".
