Picking-up Materials
Students, staff and faculty have multiple pick-up options. Select the option most convenient for you when placing your requests:
- The Olympia campus Library
- The Tacoma campus
- The Big Red locker
(offers 24/7 access, is located on the Olympia campus outside of Evans Hall) - Mail to My Home
Community members must pick up items at the Olympia campus library.
Summit
Evergreen is a member of Summit, a consortium of academic libraries in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. You may search the Evergreen Library collection and the 38 members' libraries together in the library catalog under the search scope “Evergreen + Summit”. When you request items from a Summit library, they usually arrive at Evergreen within three to five business days. Summit items check out for twelve weeks with a potential for a six-week renewal.
Purchase Requests
If the library does not own a copy of an item and you think it should be added to the collection, Evergreen students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to submit a purchase request.
The library will also attempt to purchase items which are requested from Summit but not available to borrow.
View the Library Collection Development Policies for more guidelines around library purchases.
Course Materials on Open Reserve
The library provides course materials for short-term checkout. Print copies of these items are located in Open Reserves, near the library's research desk. These items are available for a two-day checkout with a two-day waiting period before they may be checked out by the same patron again. E-book copies of materials may also be available through the library catalog.
Check out the Course Materials on Open Reserve guide to see which books the library owns and in which formats.
If the short-term loan won’t work for you, try requesting the item through Summit. Note that not all course materials are available for loan through Summit.
Off-Campus Access
Students, staff and faculty have access to electronic materials including eBooks, articles, and streaming videos from any location through the library catalog.
Community members have access to online resources inside the library.
