International Student Orientation
All international students will attend New Student Orientation, just like all new students at Evergreen. In addition to this, international students are required to join the pre-arrival virtual orientation and the post-arrival in-person International Student Orientation. Details about the orientations are sent to admitted students via email by the Office of International Programs & Services.
Pre-Arrival Checklist
Step 1: Activate Your Evergreen Accounts
Activate your Evergreen accounts following the instructions on the Help Wiki page New Student Account Activation.
New Student Account Activation (HelpWiki)
These instructions will guide you through setting up your Evergreen email account, which is the primary inbox for college communication from this point forward, so make a habit to check it often. This email account will also give you access to MyEvergreen and Microsoft 365 tools like Word, Excel, and OneDrive.
MyEvergreen is your central hub for accessing personal information and campus services at The Evergreen State College. Check MyEvergreen often to stay on top of your academic and administrative tasks. Use the Student Status Portal to sign up for new student events, orientation and more.
You will receive a special link and code from Admissions (admissions@evergreen.edu) to create your Evergreen account at your personal email address. Email CRMSupport@evergreen.edu for assistance with the Student Status Portal.
Step 2: Pay Your Tuition Deposit
Your tuition deposit will reserve your seat and allow you to register courses once registration opens. Tuition deposits are non-refundable.
How to pay your tuition deposit:
- Log in to My Evergreen
- Under "Community", select "Web Payment"
- Under "Available items", select "Tuition Deposit"
- Select the deposit relevant to your studies
- Select your first quarter from the drop-down list (it is important this is correct)
- Select “Add to payment”
- Select “Pay now” and follow payment prompts
Step 3: Request I-20 Document for Your Visa Application
Once admitted, Admissions will send you an email regarding how to request an I-20 document for your F-1 student visa application.
If you don't see the email in your inbox within a few days of receiving your admission offer (including the spam or junk folder), please notify the following departments:
- Admissions: admissions@evergreen.edu
- Office of International Programs and Services: international@evergreen.edu
We recommend that students start the visa application as early as possible to ensure there is enough time for the visa interview appointment. Please refer to the International Student Visas page for how to apply for your student visa.
Step 4: Prepare Proof of Measles Immunity
All new students must provide proof of measles immunity with documentation submitted via "Health eConnect" on MyEvergreen
Please visit Student Wellness Services page for measles immunization requirements and types of documents accepted. If your documents are not in English, you must also submit copies that are translated into English by a professional translation service.
This step must be completed before you can register for courses.
Step 5: Make an Advising Appointment
Schedule an appointment with New Student Advising by following the instructions on their page. Once this has been completed you can register for courses.
Step 6: Apply for On-Campus Housing
We recommend students who intend to live on campus to apply for on-campus housing as early as possible. Check the Campus Housing page for on-campus housing options, rates, how to apply and other details.
Step 7: Register for Courses
Registration opens for Spring, Summer, and Winter quarters on Week 10 during the prior quarter. Fall quarter registration opens at the end of May each year. Classes fill up fast so be ready to register as early as possible.
Check the Academic Calendar for course specific registration open and close dates. Go to the Incoming Students page for instructions on how to register.
Step 8: Request a Student ID Card
All new students can and should request their student ID card at least a week before arriving at Evergreen. How to request a card:
- Log in to My Evergreen
- Select "Profile" in the top right corner
- Select "Photo ID" on the right hand side
- Complete the online form
You will need a good quality digital passport-style photo (face the camera with a white background) and a picture/scan of your valid passport ID page.
Important Travel Tips
Remember to print, date, and sign your I-20 or DS-2019.

Airport Pick-up
As part of our institutional partnerships, Evergreen is committed to picking up new students from the Seattle-Tacoma airport on the pre-designated arrival day. F-1 students are informed and welcome to utilize this service at no additional charge.
Papers for U.S.A. Port of Entry

Ordering Official Transcripts
How to oder transcripts upon completion of your program
Upon completion of your time at Evergreen, you can request an official transcript be sent to your home institution. Evergreen transcripts are ordered from Registration and Records.
Before ordering and paying for the transcript, ask your home institution if you can submit an unofficial academic history report (free of charge). If this is an option, email the Office of International Programs & Services and request they send your home institution the academic history report.
