Evergreen Archives and Special Collections
Mission
Our mission is to collect, describe, preserve, and make available past institutional records of the college and college communities, as well as primary source material with enduring historical value for the study, teaching, and research needs of Evergreen students, faculty, and staff.
Guidelines
Please observe the following guidelines while visiting our reading room:
- No food or open drink containers are allowed in the reading room.
- All coats, backpacks, bags, and other items not required for research should be placed away from the main reading room tables and archival materials. Laptops can be used. Cellphones should be silenced.
- All archival materials must be requested through a member of the Archives Team, preferably in advance.
- Researchers are responsible for safeguarding and properly handling any archival materials made available to them in the reading room. Please wash hands before materials arrive. Researchers may not remove archival materials from the reading room for any purpose or rearrange the order in which they are delivered.
- Use of pens is prohibited in the reading room. Pencils can be provided to researchers if needed.
- Researchers are allowed to take photographs of archival materials for their own research purposes only. If researchers want to publish any archival materials, whether in print, a public presentation format, or on the web/social media, they must first complete a Permission For Use Application Form.
- High resolution reproductions of archival materials can be requested by completing a Reproduction Request Agreement.
- The following citation should be used when referring to archival materials consulted in the reading room: The Evergreen State College Archives and Special Collections, [collection title] [collection/item identifier].
