This course is designed to further develop technical drawing skills, expressly through representation of the nude figure. At the same time, the focus will be on personal interpretation and expression, while working analytically and responsively to nature. A range of home studio assignments will be assigned to improve fluency in drawing the figure as well as to explore issues related to making figurative work and engaging the human body.
This class will cover a wide range of technical, observational and pictorial drawing issues, with some exploration of abstraction and an emphasis on the history of anatomy studies in art history. No previous drawing experience is required, but some is encouraged.
This is a hybrid course that meets twice a week Tues/Thurs from 3-5 pm. One 2-hr session will be over Zoom, the other will be in-person on campus and attendance at both sessions is required. 4-5 hours of homework is assigned every week.
